Six tracks from 2006

Reflections on my first music production, twenty years later.

Twenty years is a long time in the music world. It’s a long time in almost anything… Well, in human terms that is — we’re not talking about trees here.

The first track I ever made is up there with a description that says, honestly, don’t listen. I stand by that, or maybe that’s just my trick to get you to listen.

Anyway, these first six tracks were made in FL Studio (except for Oh Yeah! which was hacked together in Audacity – so much fun!) They were made in the demo version of FL Studio because I did not yet own a full license. So all of these had to be made in a night, or sometimes a day or two if I was lucky, for as soon as you closed the application, all work was lost. I sometimes wish I had the original copies so I could go back and edit them, improve them. But there’s something to be said for the fact that they are what they are and will forever be this way.

I called the set T1, because it was the first group of tracks I made. The plan/hope now is for there to be a T2 — newer tools, fewer excuses. I now own Bitwig due to their Linux support. So since I can actually save my work as I go, the bar is raised. But, the plan is to still just step up and release the music in my mind to your ears.
